Digital tachograph analysis – what the vehicle data shows

A tachograph file (vehicle mass memory) contains the records of all drivers who drove the vehicle, as well as driving without a card, events, faults, speed and calibration data. DDDStart turns them into a clear report and compares them with the driver cards.

What the tachograph records

• activities of the driver and co-driver by slot,
• card insertions and withdrawals, vehicles and odometer readings,
• driving without a card in the driver slot – one of the most serious infringements,
• events and faults (power interruptions, motion sensor errors, speeding),
• technical data, calibrations and tachograph events,
• in smart tachographs – GNSS positions and border crossings.

Downloading tachograph data – deadlines

Tachograph data is downloaded at least every 90 days, as well as before selling or deregistering the vehicle and before repairing the tachograph. Keep the originals and plan download and inspection dates yourself. The current version of DDDStart does not send reminders about these dates.

Card and tachograph comparison

Only combining card and vehicle data shows the full picture: who drove without a card, whether the time on the card matches the vehicle record, whether the odometer readings at insertions are continuous. DDDStart compares the records minute by minute and gives the match percentage.

How a driver can use the report

• check your own activities and possible infringements,
• compare the records of your own card with the tachograph file, if you have both files,
• keep the report and the list of warnings for your own records.
